The Almost Story-Teller(unedited) by telle

All stories have their beginnings. No matter how a writer starts his or her story--may it be in the beginning, middle or at the end-- the tale will eventually start.

But to hear a story without an ending is as absurd as telling a child that the monster lying under his bed is to make friends with him. But the absurdity-- no matter how queer an idea might be-- is a uniqueness only a few could, and would, appreciate.

So does start the story of Noel, a story teller by heart.

His house stood alone in the middle of an underdeveloped town. It was like a chimaera of different houses put together to build a haven. It was his little heaven. It was-- in all possible explanation-- his heaven.

Ray knew the man almost all his life. He would barge in in a short notice and fumble with his books lay sitting on the table in the living room.

"You've been doing this to me since God knows when," Noel complained about Ray's coming into the house unannounced as tho it was the latter's house. He would always find the boy lying on his sofa, legs crossed, a literature book in hand.

"You could have written a poem about me."

"The hell I would." And he'd let the young man read his way to a not-so-much deserved sleep.

But there were times when the two of them talked about that one thing they have in common: love of stories.

Noel would talk for hours about recent books that he had read, the contemporary novels to watch out for, the classic one's worth admiring and poetry to philosophize over. Words have its charm on them. Words they both revered.

"I always love O. Henry. He's a genius," Ray would say.

"But underneath his ingenuity there lies a darker, more miserable part of him that well, perhaps, he used to write his stories with." Noel would do indian sit on the floor across from Ray.
A short story, he decided.

The title read "Without an Ending." Intriguing. Without the thought of prying into someone else's lives, he read the story.

Noel, Ray figured, was fond of laconic simplicity.

The story was about a man travelling from point to point. He was told that the nearest path from point A to point B is a straight line, but he made himself think that no straight lines existed, so he travelled without a map, but with the destination clear in his mind. With people having heard his stories, they tried to convince him to go this way, that way and eventually to stop this odyssey. He would not budge.

Until at last, after a long and arduous journey, he had found his destination.

But to Ray's surprise, that destination was a crossroad, two roads which ends dissolved in the horizon.

The protagonist in the story stepped forth and carried on his travel.

So did end the story.

"So much for a cliffhanger, isn't it?" Noel said. He had been peering at the younger man all throughout his reading.

"So much for an ending. It doesn't have one."

"But you have one in your mind, I assume," he ventured.

"But it won't fit in." He hesitated.

"Then, be my guest." There was a tone of taunting in his voice. He moved toward the bookshelf; the ray of the afternoon run was about to touch its foot. He just stood there; his back to the young man. He drew one book.

The silence that ensued prevented Ray from inquiring further. He contemplated Omel's work once more. The flawed hush become his ink, the eyes that bore into the paper the pen. He was a reader-- that's all. Never a writer. So whatever he would come up with might be sloppy. Amateurish.

"The roads lead either to his dream or to his damnation," he commenced the telling.

Noel's face contorted into a smile.

"He chose to take the road that will eventually lead him to a life that was long taken from him. Perhaps, no instinct is needed in the determination of his path Perhaps, he knew it all along. By heart. At the end of the road. . ." The telling continued as he desired. His words were carefully woven. Creatively woven for an amateur. After the river of words seized to flow, he felt exhausted but flabbergasted to find himself a storyteller.

Noel turned to look at the boy's eyes. "Do you know why wrote I wrote that?"

Ray was silent. Thinking.

"That story was about you." He said, almost matter-of-factly. There was profounde in his voice despite the lack of figurative power in his words.

"In what way," was all he managed to say.

"Our lives are like an unfinished stories. It is one long winding and convoluted road that stretches into infinity. There is really on real goals because it is death. But we are talking about what lies between these ends: what kids between our birth and death. That is happiness. It is something we choose. Something we handpicked with effort. Tell me, how did you consider the things that will happen to the protagonist of my stupid story?"

"I consider what's best. I know that this and that might happen but i know i chose what's best."

"You chose." It was a statement that required an answer, as if it were whipped as a query.

"Y-yes." He was hesitant.

"Then, why wouldn't you do it for yourself. Choose what's best for you because to be able to live is to be able to choose. Of course, we have our prices to pay for opting our dreams, ourselves over other things but those sacrifices. . . They were always worth it."

Ray's life flashed before his eyes. It was kind of funny how there chosen scenarios paraded before him as tho it would to a dying's eyes. Its feral flashing told of the things that held him back; the pieces of what he called treasurer that he could not let go, could not sacrifice. A glowing warmth as priceless as any other hemp but not so perishable as they might seen, lit like a thousand torches gathering. He felt invincible.

The end.

Of Liars and Philosophers by Telle

Hearts

You hold my heart
A bleeding mass of purpose
Outstretched are the fingers
That you I don’t want to lose
This love took a form of
Friendship you thought could endure
But with deaf ears
You lashed out words that injured
Why can’t the heat of the sun
Fall on that pain amassed
And warm again the veins
That refused to give to trust?
Weathered is the promise
Of emotions standing still
Waiting am I for you to call me
And with lights may world you’ll fill

Fallen Angel

God clipped the wings that conquered the sky
You fell into the earth
The great descent wiped the joy in you
Love was put to death
I will cut my own wings
And give it to you, my dear
Burn the sky to ashes
Just to give earth some color
I know you don’t need my arms
You don’t need my existence
You don’t need me
But when the time comes that you could now spread your wings
Rise up, fallen angel
Remember the one who compromised
And fly away!

The turning away

Consider this mutual
I turn away
With this blinding light you cursed me
In my eyes hid dismay
The bind that we considered
Now a wretched link
Hate—a forming rust—corrupts us both
The soul inside stinks
To hell with the amity
That is never returned
My image in your mind
Slowly—but surely—burns
I cared, I dared to reach out
But you failed to figure
Now, I am left outside
While you lock the door

Oh Mary, My Mary

I
When the devil whispers taunting,
As the earthquake moves her pace,
She will face the heaven asunder;
Mocks the sun in many ways.
When God whispers His grudging words,
Like a lightning graced the dusk,
She’ll cover her eyes from the light
And cater her earthly lust.

II
Oh, blood that spills to cleanse the face
Of her bittersweet longing
Looked down on those who cannot speak.
Withstand her condescending!
The castle now resounds the scream
Of the souls she had tortured
No longer breathing, silenced sceaming
Fills the unholy chamber.

III
O Mary, bathe in virgins’ blood,
Your name so sweet and holy.
Just wear the phantom mask of lies
And dance with melancholy
Break the hearts of God and Satan.
Be the master of thyself.
You are alone now, dear Mary.
Alas! This loneliness delve.

Oh, may pagtanggi pa yan.. hehe.

Bestfriends Mean Forever Ni Telle

Pumara habang papa-take off ang eroplanong sinasakyan ninyo? Mang-hold up ng banko habang may bank holiday?
Hindi nga ba, no man is an island.

Nariyan ang mga Tupperware, fair-weather friends, ka-friendster, facebook friends, friends with benefits, true friends false friends, modified true or false friends, super friends, at bestfriends.
Eh, subukan kaya nating magbigay! Hindi nga ba, it’s easy to make friends but it takes a lot to keep them. ‘Wag magbibiloang. Bigay lang ng bigay. Diyan nasusukat kung ano ka. At malay mo, matatalo mo na ang eight-year average nay an at magiging eight and a half– at least nag-improve.
                Sabi ng isa kong kaibigan:
                Our life will change from:
·         Classroom to office
·         Books to files
·         Jeans to formal
·         Allowance to salary
·         Bf/gf to husband/wife
But friends will never change. They are and always be FRIENDS.

The Badtrip List Ni Telle

God’s gift to insanity.

Siya kaya ang Chuck Norris Meets Manny Pacquiao meets Cooking with the Dazas plus the ping! ping! ping! factor niyang nakaka ping! ping! ping! ng utak.Hindi naman sa ayoko sa Bisaya pero.. Oh Boy!

Boy Abunda-Isa pang ordinaryong pangalang masarap kalbuhin.

Kung alam lang nating lahat: The fifteenth president of the Republic of the Philippines is Cory Aquino, and he just holds the rein that his damn mother manipulates.

Manny Pacquiao-God’s gift to boxing.

Never speak ill of  her kundi magkakagulo tayo dito. I love her kaya, lalo na ang asampsyonista niyang diction.

I Can Relate By Telle

Love, the ever famous word to which most of us can relate. May it be of pain, excitement, anticipation or joy, we all love talking about love. Now, are you starting to to ask what this article is all about? Surprisingly, it is not about that four-letter word. No. it is about the word ‘relate’.
Relating is like looking at yourself in the mirror, seeing the same view over and over again, and the option not to leave home lest you would get lost amid the crowded world outside, so tospeak. It is like drawing a circle on the ground and never wanting to step out of it.
Have you ever heard of Heraclitus’s concept of fire? The notion stating that life in general is an immortal fire that never dies, only transforms. Much like the Law of Energy Conservation, eh. Have you ever heard of the rather oxymoronic term ‘Christian Anarchism’ that a certain Russian novelist Leo Tolstoy coined? It is about abolishing the wicked system and building up a new one according to God’s will. It will eventually yield a theocratic state. Or do you even have any idea about the nature of duality? This is, the existence of two opposing forces that affect man. If I explain that I am against the idea, I am one hundred percent certain you would only turn a deaf ear on me. Why? Because you cannot relate! I know you have not had any idea what the hell I am talking about. Why? The reason is you tread the ground familiar to you. If I ask you something about love, I am sure that you can answer me with a scholarly smile writhed upon your face.
There is nothing wrong with relating yourself to predominant notions of everyday living.  Love, family, friends, politics, religion and everything that you can think about, it matters a lot but striding the same road will not get you to different fields. It will not lead you to new ideas you can explore. And what’s worse, big recording companies and the media make a big profit from you, making you a mental slave.
Relating is keeping your interest rekindled. It makes writers like me choose something to write about. It keeps Justin Beiber’s bank account happy. But it is also a prison that prevents us from exploring a much greener pasture that lies beyond the horizon of our knowledge.
We are kept imprisoned by our minds by being mentally stagnant. Our brain produces brain cells more that the stars in the sky, it is a waste if we will not use it. If we step out of our circle, maybe a new Renaissance will occur. Isn’t great? Having to live with an eye that penetrates to some new ideas? Surely, we can expand the things we can relate to by expanding our senses. After all, what are minds for if it will not be used?

Daedalus and Icarus This is one of the most renowned stories in Greek mythology. By Telle

Daedalus, who had Icarus as a son, was one of the famed characters in Greek mythology. He invented a number of things but was famous for his convoluted brainchild: the labyrinth wherein the monster known as minotaur was imprisoned. But when an Athenean hero that went by the name of Theseus outsmarted them by killing the hideous monster, the Minotuar, King Minos threw both of them into the maze.
They were held captive by the maze that they created. There was no way out. The land, the sea, they were all guarded. But out thought struck Daedalus’s mind: King Minos could have conquered the earth and the sea but the sky remained unscathed. And through it they would escape. The idea came when one time, Icarus, a fellow as great as his father, watched the seagull roamed the skies. The birds enjoyed a freedom no one can take away from them.
So, they gathered every feather they could get, every rope they could weave, every wax they could find and engineered an escape so brilliant about which they themselves felt a little boastful. When the wings were done, they tried it on, a little sloppy at first, as every beginners are, until they perfected the skills no one had done before.
Daedalus, as triumphant at his slyness, told Icarus the great leap they were giving mankind but warned the youth not to fly to near to the sun. The wings were of feathers and wax and the sun could become their greatest enemy thus far.
Until the time of flight came. Wing wings at their back, they rode the wings of feather and wax up the saline air, towards the liberation that a selfish king took away from them. Into the greater unknown they flew. They were exultant for the achievement. They were conquerors of the skies. Those whose feet were touching the ground thought they were gods, immortals. But they were the kings for a moment.
It proved that the greatest enemy lay within for a foe unseen slowly devoured Icarus’s heart. He felt pride from freedom and superiority. They were gods… gods for a fleeting moment. Icarus got his warnings but he transgressed. To the sun he flew, mocking the human attributes that he and his father overcame.
Daedalus warned him but his cries fell on deaf ears. He flew up, higher than the clouds, feeling the air on his face when the wax melted away. The wings disintegrated. Death’s torrential waves waited below and into it he dove. That was his ocean grave.
Daedalus, though heartbroken carried on, with a bleeding heart for a lost child towards the freedom he should have shared with his son
