2012 By Janine

2012, End of the World? Sounds weird, right? But there are lots of hearsays and predictions that on the year 2012, the world will cease to exist. Scared? Are you one of its believers? Me, I don’t know. Yes, I believe in God and I believe that all beginnings have their ending but wait, let us know first where this theory about 2012 began.
The famous prophet Nostradamus who published collections of prophecies which are famous up to our times said that 2012 will be our last day. That is almost a year from now, right? I wonder how he knew that. But I also wonder how he saw and said at his last night that people will not find him alive at sunrise. Yes, he predicted his death. Does it mean he is also capable of seeing when the world is going to end?
Another basis of the 2012 prediction is the calendar of the Mayan civilization. It might have been a coincidence or something but this Mayan calendar also marked the year 2012 as the end.
If we will further consider the event happening today, end of the world will not be far from impossible. It is written in the bible that before the world ends, there will be war and chaos between countries. People will be in so much suffering. Poverty will be brought by different calamities. These havocs can all be seen at present. Now, do you believe that we are all coming to the end? Should we believe that 2012 will be the earth and mankind’s last year?
The decision is still yours to make. But for me, it will be way better if we will not think when the world is going to end or if it is really going to end. Sometimes, it is better if we have no knowledge or idea about certain things. For now, let’s just live our life to the fullest, laugh until we can’t any longer and love like there is no tomorrow. As the song of Jay Sean goes, “Party like it’s the end of the world, Party like its 2012… It doesn’t matter as long as we’ve got each other… It ain’t the end of the world.”
